Do the Actors Get it?

"...or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch, Peter?"

Did Georgie Henley, when she said the above quote, know how it represents her as the childlike (in a good way) and undoubting Christian, who always trusts that God has a plan?

Did Skandar Keynes understand what he was representing when he betrayed his family and the Narnians for Turkish delight? And that he represented the sheep welcomed back into the fold when he came back?

Do any of them understand who Aslan represents? Did either Anna Popplewell or Georgie Henley understand what the significance was in Aslan's giving his life to save Edmund's?

I hope that they do. It just makes the movies so much more meaningful.

How strange it is to think that people who can play such allegorically spiritual roles might possibly not even know what they mean!

A Narnia Party

A couple of Fridays ago, I held a Caspian viewing party, partly so that I could have a chance to wear the costume that I worked on for four months, and partly because it’s always more fun to watch a movie with friends.

Sorry, it's blurry.

So, the pizza was in the oven, numerous trips to the grocery store made, lists of plans constructed and subsequently forgotten (I am notorious for wasting time on lists, looking at them and stuffing them in my “drawer of surprises” where things go whose charm I want renewed…namely by losing and rediscovering them—months later).

And at last! We eat!

Don't even ask what went into this delicious chocolate paradise.

And yes, we did watch the movie, but in order to keep the peace, my mom refrained from taking pictures. :)

Seeing in Person...

...Joshua Bell!

Have you ever heard of him? He was the Grammy-award winning violinist on the soundtrack of a movie called The Red Violin (no, I have not seen it). He came to San Antonio to do a recital, and my orchestra offered a great deal for members to get tickets. So three days later, there my dad and I were at the door of the Majestic Theater.

It was a wonderful performance, and the program was absolutely fantastic. He and his pianist made a very charismatic team--they were really a good duo. At the end of the recital, Daddy and I scooted for the table where Joshua Bell would be signing autographs. As we arrived there, he came back on stage for the encore, and what should he play other than the piece I am currently working on, Meditation from Thais by Massenet. Let me tell you, it was an incredible treat to hear a piece that I know played live by a professional!
