In the beginning of Prince Caspian, Susan wears a maroon, gray and white school uniform with a blue-and-yellow striped tie. The blazer has a pocket and a lapel. It falls to mid-hip. On the pocket, there is a signia, probably the symbol of her school. Her skirt is just a straight skirt, seamed on the sides and possibly the back. It has a waistband. The shirt is a dress shirt, but it is hard to tell what the cuffs look like.
Simplicity 3688 would be ideal for the blazer, since it is about the same length. The only difference is the lapel is rounded, as opposed to pointed. The skirt that goes with this pattern would be workable, or you could just fudge it. ;)

Hey, we have Simplicity 3688 and I am DYING to make something similar using this pattern.
Great job on the review...looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews!
Love,
Nana
Apart from the tie, this is a really cute outfit! I like the colors red/maroon and grey together. I look forward to more of these posts! :)
Cool!
Hehe, "just fudge it" :P Sounds like what I'd end up doing.
You know, I just noticed that Susan's skirt is different than Lu's....duh! :) *sigh* And that Lucy is wearing red under her blazer.....I'm very observant, aren't I?
I FINISHED MY OUTFIT!!!! The 40s one. It fits *really* well and I LOVE it! Don't you just love sewing something that works?!?! I was so worried while I was making it that it wouldn't work, and that I wouldn't want to wear it once it was done. But now, I want to wear it all the time!
Yes, I think that pattern has possibilities. This is a great idea you have! But personally, I would wear the outfit the way susan does in the top picture and just scrap that weird tie. :-) Just be sure you get a linen or wool for the skirt, otherwise I don't think it will lay like susan's does...just some thoughts...
Looking forward to more!

@Nana: it's great!I'm still working on my project using it, though. But it is very authentic.
@Marian: I agree...ties don't work on most girls. ;)
@Jo: It is...in fact, it's a jumper! If you look at the pics of Lucy in Narnia, she takes off her waistcoat or vest (which is the red you spotted)and it is a jumper with a scarf/belt.
@Joanna: Thanks! I forgot to say something about that...thanks for saying it. ;) I personally would go with wool, but linen would work pretty much as well.
Oh I love the color of the jacket... and I think it would be fun to wear that sort of thing to school :). School is only just down the stairs for me, though...
So glad to see you posting again!

I've only seen about 60 minutes of Prince Caspian, and that was about a year ago, so I guess I missed that too :P *opens up NarniaWeb to see pictures* Cute jumper! It looks like one my sisters have :)
