Are You Going to Scarborough Faire?

This is what happened during our a wonderful 4-day getaway in Dallas/Waxahachie area:

The Mandatory high-speed spin in the hotel office chair...after all, what are hotels for?

You know, I could have sworn he died...several centuries ago.

The infamous town crier...yes, the bell-on-head act is singularly hers.

There was the town jester...with his dog Blockhead. That name really upset Dumpling.

Below is an amazing falcon. It is trying to eat the lure at the "Bird of Prey" demonstration. Believe me, it was really astounding.

At the end of the joust, the "knight" lost his lance and sheild....without falling off the horse. How did he manage that?

Me and Dumpling perched on the "Narnian Queen" throne. I was wearing my red costume, the one you can see the back of below

Now, we're off to archery. Yes! Finally, a bow that doesn't have that big clunky handle on it! (Yes, I bought one. No, I did not hit the target.)

*gasp splutter splutter* COSTUMES!!! *gasp splutter splutter* $400 each?

Bye!

That must have been really fun!!
I love your dress!! So pretty!

I saw on your sidebar the pictures, kind of like the lord of the rings ones that are around.
And it's really cool!! Such a good idea to make one with Narnia pictures! =D

Yes, I really liked the idea with LotR...but since I LOVE Narnia and know NOTHING about LotR...I decided to do this! Thanks!

Hello my dear...
Need I say anything about the costume? FABULOUS! That is a lovely red color, and you've got lovely hair too; that makes two of us who try to do 'Susan-hair' on ourselves. Ooooo, I'm trying hard not to be jealous of the archery. Please do write about the costume! I think I recognize the base for that pattern; but did you sort of improvise on it a bit? And what sort of fabric did you use? It looks quite soft, with maybe even a bit of a sheen to it, and lots of drape; but not quite like velvet. I'd love to make a dress out of crushed panne velvet, like Susan's coronation gown in LWW. I was also hoping to share some of my costume designs, but I lost the whole book of them! I think they're quite similar to yours.
Farewell, thou faithful and kindred Narnia nut...
~Meg
P.S. if I'm ever in Texas, I'll let you know :)

Thanks, Meg! It is actually made of linen look (deep red). The underskirt is just some quilting cotton. The pattern is McCall's 4491 (I think). I hope that you find the costume design book! I'd like to see some.

Oh, and if you're interested in the bow, I have the website of the man that sold the bow to me at the top of my link list...I actually ended getting the Elven Bow, not the one pictured. :)

For Narnia and for Aslan!

Su,
I love your new dress! Is this one modeled after one of Susan's in the movie? I don't remember this one. (and trust me. I've studied there clothes) Is it the one at Prince Caspian's corination?
My sister will be stopping by later. As I said she was planing on making Susan's purple dress, and once I showed her the pictures of yours she said she would like to talk to you about how you made the pattern.
This fair seems like so much fun. Every year there is a Renaissance
festival in out town, but we have only been once. I would like to go this year though.
Would you believe me if I told you I didn't used to like Narnia. Don't worry I've reformed since then ;).
I hope you have a great evening!
Nana
