Rena Rowan

Yesterday, my mother and I embarked on a quest. We were looking for a formal dress. If you've ever done so, you will know well just how the racks and racks of dresses, all too expensive (I was going to pay for it myself), and all too immodest (don't even get me started). The long dresses tend to be long, but slinky, and the short dresses are full...but short. So our last stop was Sears where we found it. This lovely color of red that I had only imagined existed just popped out at us and I tried it on.

My dress is the Rena Rowan Short-Sleeved Taffeta Shirtdress. It's not quite as long as I would have liked, but it's much more versatile than a gown, so I can wear it to semi-formal events as well as formal. It also looks very 1940's (you've probably noticed that if I like something lately, it looks 1940's. Go figure.) Can't wait to wear it!

Oh my! It's beautiful! :D I have two prom/formal dresses. One is read and one is a light pink. The light pink one is long and has a short train, and the red one is long and full. I love them both! And neither of them are short, tight or show too much of my chest! :D

That is beautiful, and very very classy. You'll be able to wear it forever if you want to, and you'll always look like the coolest person in the room!

Good for you, Lucie! It's a hard thing for us girls to be feminine, modest and wise with our money at the same time in this society. I just bought my own formal dress a "Little Black Dress", and as you can imagine, it was a trip to find one that was not so little, not so expensive and, well, I wanted to look a little pretty in it, haha! So I totally know what you went through. Lots of Love!

That is beautiful Lucie! It is amazing how often the Lord provides on the last stop. I was Shopping with a friend of mine, who needs a special size, and we couldn't find something modest and flattering anywhere. There was one that the Lady we were shopping with thought was really pretty, but Emm couldn't do it, all of us girls were quite sure her mother would not approve. So we went to the last spot on out list. One of those Goodwills that is open air and, well, not at all impressive like the store we had gone to. But we decided to go in and look. Lo and behold there was ONE dress, EXACTLY her size, BEAUTIFUL, and more MODEST than we ever imagined! And of course, second had it was ten dollars. :-)

Wow, sorry, that was a long comment. :-)

Where are you wearing your gown? The color is great.

@EchoOfMercy: they are beautiful dresses, but you're right...extremely expensive!

@Sarah: Wow, sounds lovely! Thanks!

@Joanna: Wow. What a blessing!

What a lovely dress! The color is magnificent. My mother just bought me a pink satin dress which reminds me of the 1930's. I love clothes that look vintage! Great find! :)
