Doings of a Young Woman

I haven't done one of these for a very long time, but I thought I'd give it a go.

I am wearing: pajamas and bathrobe. More on that in a moment.

I am listening to: the vacuum cleaner and Cuddlebug humming arrangements of Andrews Sisters songs.

I am feeling: sick. With a cold. Nothing serious, luckily, but that explains the attire.

I am watching: my cat attempt to eat my brand-new, hand-made fancy scarf. I just took it away

I am thinking about: formal dresses and how to make them modest.

Outside my window: sunny and crisp. Lovely weather.

So, in case you thought that all I ever write about is Narnia...I do have another blog! It's called All About Books, Etc., and it just recently underwent MASSIVE renovations. Now, instead of being exclusively "all about books" it now contains other topics related to my education (hence All About Books, ETC.). So please stop by!

Music is powerful

Listening to "The Battle" on my playlist, I noticed something. I was listening to "The Battle" on my playlist. It just brought back that almost magical feeling of sitting in the theater, watching The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe for the first time. I used to be totally enamored with those movies. Now I realize why: it was the music. I think that it is the strains of the brass, the soaring of the strings and the vocal music in that particular song that so deeply entranced me. It literally did and still does give me goose bumps!

Walnuts and Rice

Today, my Mom told me this "word -picture" (after I had spent a lot of time on, well, the blog):

I have a jar, some rice and a few walnuts. First, I will pour the rice into the jar, so that it goes all the way up to the brim. With the jar filled, I try to stuff the walnuts in. What happens? The walnuts don't fit.

The walnuts are representing the necessities of life, like prayer. Or laundry. Or schoolwork. The rice stands for all the luxuries and things that are not necessities. If (and when) I put in the luxuries first, the necessities won't fit and hence don't get done.

Now think: if I put in the walnuts first, and then the rice, it all fits. Guess what that means! :)
